Trinidad Escobar
Trinidad Escobar is an Autistic cartoonist-poet and upasika from Milpitas, California, USA. She is the creator of Crushed and Arrive In My Hands (Black Josei Press). Her comics have been featured in The New Yorker, The Washington Post, The Nib, The Society of Illustrators, The Brooklyn Review, Drawn & Quarterly, Abrams, and more. Her forthcoming graphic novel, Of Sea and Venom (Farrar, Straus & Giroux Books for Young Readers) was inspired by indigenous resistance movements in the pre-colonial Philippine Islands. As a comics professor she developed the Race & Comics undergraduate course at California College of the Arts. Trinidad is also a musician and a kalista, or Filipina martial artist. She lives with her son, partner, and their many animals.
