Safdar Ahmed is a comic artist, writer and cultural worker based on the traditional lands of the Gadigal and Guringai people in Sydney Australia. He holds a PhD in Islamic Studies and is a founding member of the Sydney-based community art organisation Refugee Art Project. In 2011 he published Still Alive (through Twelve Panels Press and Fantagraphics Underground), a graphic novel documenting Australia’s treatment of refugees. Safdar also plays guitar and growls for the anti-racist Muslim death metal band Hazeen.
